What drug causes these effects?

I'm required to write a horror story, and there's a scene where a man is drugged by the antagonist. The effects are he has difficulty moving his body, his brain isn't fully functioning (he is less resistant), and he is less aware of pain. What sort of drug has this kind effect on the body? Narcotics? Sedatives? What kinds? Please help.
