Tell me if you think this a good plot for a novel?

It's a good draft, but I'd suggest less things like drunk fathers and abduction. It seems a little loaded on and it's hard to relate to a character who seems to attract violence and crime. I can see a dead mother, a drunk father and a terrible orphanage, but abusive foster parents? A coma? A little too much. Though if a hurricane (or tornado) came through you could put the coma there. You also might need some love interest or something else not related to disaster besides friends. Other than that, it's good so far!
