Possible fracture or bruise on top of foot after big shreader machine fell on it.?

I was in the kitchen and the big paper shreader machine landed right on top of my foot towards the middle and going towards the ankle but the pain is on top of the foot. It hurt for a good 15 minutes and for five minutes pretty bad. I put some ice on it and although I can walk on it with just some limping, when I drove kids to school today everytime I stepped on the gas petal it hurt worse. Is it possible to fracture the top of the foot and be able to walk on it and have more pain when pressing on the gas? I also am on lasix now cause I had a bad reaction to a medication so I gained 24 pounds of fluid and am now on lasix. I can't really compare swelling since both legs are swollen. I've been checked out for that but now I wonder if I should get an x-ray (we don't have much money) and if it's o.k. would an orthopedic dr. treat it with something if it were just a sprain? I can't take narcotic pain meds and wouldn't need them anyway for this but just wondering if it's possible for a bone to be cracked and still be able to walk on it but have increase pain when stepping on the gas pedal? Thanks.
