Jobs for a cl A Misdemeanor?

About a year ago, my brother's girlfriend got drunk and attacked him. She has epilepsy and chooses alcohol over her meds so due to seizures, she had old bruises. My brother had some neighbors call the police and when they got there (this being a small Texas town) decided to take him in because, "girls don't abuse, men do." and because of the old bruises. Despite her objections, the neighbors, and his own, the police booked him on domestic ault. They informed my brother and his now ex girlfriend that they didn't need her to press charges and the state was picking it up. He spent about a month in county jail and now has an aggravated domestic ault charge on his record. Ever since he was released from jail he's been trying to find a job. They all say he didn't p the background check and they can't hire anyone with an aggravated charge. My questions is: what kind of job can he get? He has years of stable job history and only this one offense on his record. Before this he never even had a traffic ticket.
