If you can't talk you have laryngitis, I get it 2-3 times a year. It is an infection in your larynx (voice box) and most likely will not go away on its own. I always need antibiotics to get rid of mine. You could try gargling with warm salt water but I think you would be wasting your time. I suggest you go see your Dr. for antibiotics and don't try to talk at all. The more you try to talk, the more irritated your voice box becomes. Like I said I get this every year. Just got over it as a matter of fact and it took 2 rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it cause I had bronchitus with it. Go to the Dr.
